A frame within an image draws the eye to whatever is within the frame. In this image the castle is framed by the trees. In the image below of the piper, the other out of focus elements draw your eye into the centre of the frame. The frame does not have to be a physical frame as in the image of the gate the frame is created by light and shadow as much as the trees.
