Individuals Engaged

Since our formation in 2023 we have delivered over 400 workshops, over 1000 hours of training, directly engaged with over 1400 people and indirectly with many hundreds more through our community projects. We have collaborated with over 30 community organisations, either through workshops or by documenting their work and promoting the impact they have.

Our Beneficiaries

We work with diverse communities predominantly with groups and individuals with experience of mental and physical challenges, neurodiversity and other cultural and social barriers. We work with neurodiverse young people, supporting them into creative careers and giving them opportunities for employment. Our employees and directors all have lived experience of some of the challenges faced by our beneficiaries or who have been service users at Luminary.

Over 70% of our beneficiaries report experience of mental illness with 20% reporting mental health along with physical or cognitive challenges. Over 50% have multiple disabilities (which the chart below does not specify). Our photography workshops deliver improvements in mood and reduced social isolation, and improve accessibility to the arts for everyone.

We provide support and signposting to our beneficiaries and have dedicated support staff who provide support with benefits applications, administration and mental health support. We work with a range of organisations across the North East who we can refer into.
