Constructing a filing system for your images is a personal thing. Ideally a system that makes everything easy to identify and organise is ideal. One system is to create a folder with the location or client name for example: Malvern (see image) and then inside those folders subfolders with the date for example 2022-04-03. Adobe Lightroom Classic makes it very easy to setup folders and move images around if necessary and automatically imports to dated folders.
It is better not to rename the individual images as they are already in a sequenced naming system straight from the camera. Instead rename the images on export only so they can be given different names for different reasons. To add further clarity and search options to your images, keywords can be added and there is a comprehensive search facility. This is also true of some other image editing software such as Google Photos, Apple Photos and Windows Photos.
Ideally images and catalogue folders should be stored on an external storage device, such as a hard drive as the space that they take up can become huge quite quickly.
