Community Projects

We develop and deliver participatory photography and film projects, working with community groups and organisations to engage socially with people from a range of backgrounds. Our projects range from light touch participatory projects, documenting people’s stories such as our Portrait of Stanley project, to photography workshops and fully co-produced and co-curated projects.

We have extensive experience of working with community groups, particularly those centred around improving mental health. We can use photography as the core of the project or as part of a something broader such as our work with Women’s Community Boutique, using photography to discuss and improve body confidence.

Photography has embedded Maths, English and IT and the most basic of engagement with photography can help to develop digital skills. There is extensive research to show that photography can improve health and wellbeing and has a positive impact on mental health, including stress-reduction, self-reflection and self-expression and help to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation (The EU Culture for HEalth Report 2022).
